As we go throughout our day, how many times do we say "I'm sorry" and "Thank you?"
For many of us, these words can have very different uses. I find that in my life when I am saying "I'm sorry" I am often feeling sorry for myself. To me "I'm sorry" means, that "I'm sorry" that I can't do things my self. So really I am just felling sorry for myself, upset that I can not do the things that I used to do or want to do. I find myself saying "I'm sorry" when someone has to help me get around, or do some housework or help me to the bathroom. When I am having a severe attack, these are some of the things that I can't do. My legs don't want to work right, my hands and my speech are out of control and I very often begin to feel sorry for myself instead of saying "Thank you" to those who help me.
"Thank you" reminds them that they are truly blessing me with their help and takes my eyes off of me and puts them on those who help me.
So for those who have heard me say "I am sorry that you have to help me" please know how truly thankful I am for you and all you do for me.
As we go through life, let's remember to say "thank you" as we focus on what others do and take our eyes off ourselves and remember that Christ did not come to be served but to serve. Those who are serving others are showing Christ to us.
